Raksha Bandhan Celebrations

Warrington Shakha invites you to Raksha Bandhan Celebrations on September 10, 2010 from 7 PM to 9 PM
It is our great pleasure to invite you to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan with Warrington shakha on September the 10th. This event will serve to display the range of activities that we do in our weekly shakha. This event will not only encourage participation from all age groups but also enable you to watch participants from Warrington shakha display skills in which they have developed and nurtured through their regular attendance. The program will begin promptly at 7pm and finish at 9pm, we therefore request that you aim to arrive before 7 so that the program isn't disturbed by late arrivers! After the program has finished we will be serving some light snacks, so it will be much appreciated if you would R.S.V.P your attendance ASAP for catering purposes. This will be a great opportunity to meet other Hindu's in Warrington and hopefully establish bonds through the aid of this auspicious festival.

Guru Pooja on 25th July

After much discussion on the venue, we finally decided to meet up at the ever so gracious Pritiji and Hasmukhji's place for the Guru Pooja. We gathered at about 11.00 A.M and the pooja was performed a little later, with all of singing the guru pooja song. Donations were made anonymously for the shakha funds and we played some games, followed by delicious bhojan...thanks to all the lovely ladies..

Malham Trek/Picnic

It was not any regular weekend but one of those days when its gorgeous outside, there is a football match to watch on Tele and yet people make it with their families to the trek organized by Sewa International. Malham, only a hour and half drive from Warrington, is a tiny paradise for family picnics/treks. We arrived around 10.30 and started the trek at around 11 A.M. The sun was high and bright just the kind of weather perfect for picnics.  We climbed to the peak (well almost) and  took a break for lunch. All of us packed a bag full of goodies - Potato shaak, Aloo tikki, Veggie cutlets, all neatly sandwiched in baps  Cucumber-cheese sandwiches, Flapjacks, Pulao, Crisps, sweet nibbles..I could go on about the menu for the kind of foodie I am...anyway what fun would a picnic be without these?
I am so glad that these little ones were leading us especially Akshay (as usual wanted to finish first). I still remember him saying "You know this is just medium after the last one we did " how cute!

I must admit women power was the highlight of the day, as we were right behind the kids and the men were blindly following us, asking us to stop for a break every now and then, so that they could catch up with us. And then there were these other Shakha groups, a bit confused looking at us climbing up, while they were on their way down to finish the trek...really hilarious...Imagine their plight L
Mr 'S' made sure that all the little ones got to touch the stream of water.. Some patience..
What a relief to just relax under the trees after a toasty trek!
Yp..Money does grow on trees! But only 10s and 20Ps J
Money was raised for Sewa International by all participants donating £1 each.
On top of the World..Errr.Peak...

Last Pic before the Climb...
Some indulgence after the trek... by the pool...Ice lollies never tasted better J
